Falak Almanac (AF) is published jointly between the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia and the Office of the
Almanak, Faculty of Engineering and Geoinformation Sciences,
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai. Its calculations are based directly on the fundamental theories of planetary motion and no data are taken directly from any existing almanac or ephemeris.
The main purpose of publishing the Falak Almanac (AF) is to provide the data required for shariah falak calculations such as calendar determination, prayer times including imsak, and the preparation of rukyah hilal data.
All data in the Falak Almanac (AF) refer to Malaysian Standard Time (MST) where the standard longitude is + 120° E (+ 8 hours east). This will further facilitate data retrieval for calculations.
