To provide advice to His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the Head of Religion of the State of Melaka through the Islamic Religious Council, the State Government, statutory bodies, non-governmental organizations and the community regarding Islamic religious affairs and shariah law.
To issue fatwas or shariah legal opinions that are comprehensive, well-presented and systematic on any matters that are not yet final or that give rise to controversy related to shariah law, based on the texts of the Qur'an and the Sunnah and the opinions of the recognized imams of the schools of thought.
To be the primary and final reference center in matters of fatwas and shariah law.
To become a strong, authoritative and respected center for education, research and astro-tourism in the field of Islamic astronomical science / astronomy.
