The Fatwa and Research Division is responsible for providing fatwas and opinions on Islamic law, conducting studies and research, and processing applications for licenses to teach religion and the Al-Qur’an in the State of Melaka.

Mission
- To issue fatwas on matters that are not yet settled or that give rise to controversy related to Islamic law.
- To enhance the community's understanding and appreciation of fatwas and Islamic law.
- To utilize information and communication technology in research and fatwa activities.
- To establish cooperative relationships with JAKIM, state and regional Mufti departments, and educational institutions in aspects of fatwa studies.
Objectives
- To provide fatwas or opinions on Islamic legal matters and current issues that cause disputes in society in a comprehensive, clear and systematic manner as guidance for Muslims in the State of Melaka.
- To conduct studies and research in various aspects related to fatwas and Islamic law that are relevant to current circumstances.
- To process applications for Syariah Officer interviews, authorizations to teach religion and the Al-Qur’an in accordance with the provisions of the Islamic Religious Administration Enactment (State of Melaka) 2002 and the established Rules for Authorization to Teach Religion efficiently, orderly and with quality.
